Hi,

this happens in all epub templates. The thumbnail view is not correct. All sections thumbnails are blank / white / empty.

When inserting an image it is not possible to choose the text flow around it . It always anchored to the text and the text does not flow around.

The thumbnail view is not available in most cases. Never from the icon, only in the menu sometimes.

When changing the templates in the layouts the changes do not take effect.

The template used is one of those being installed by apple with iBooks author called "classic".User uploaded file

Are you trying to edit the page, or the layouts of the template?

View>Show Layouts

Images anchor to the cursor location or wherever they are placed in the text.

What do you mean it changed the behavior? Can you provide a screenshot?

Does the same thing happen on all templates? Which epub template are you using?

Are you viewing thumbnails or outline view?

Is there contend on the pages that the thumbnails are showing empty?

If you create a new book from the template chooser, do the page thumbnails show content, with just the sample content?

The text wrap is expected behavior with epub templates. The wrap options will always be disabled. Control the placement of the image using styling applied to the paragraph styles.

If viewing layouts, the layout should show Apply Changes button if the layout is edited AND the layout is in use in the book.

Isolate the the app vs the book file by creating a new test user (not the guest), signing in to the new user and see if on a new book the thumbnails are empty.

If yes, reinstall iBooks Author. If it works properly on new book on test user and not on new book on original user, I’d quit iBooks Author after saving and delete the plist preferences for iBooks Author and reopen after deleted and check again.

Plist files are in ~/Library/Preferences folder.

Sort by list view in Finder and locate com.apple.ibooksauthor.plist and anything else with com.apple.ibooksauthor. Delete the plist files.

iBooks Author should not be open when doing this. Restart iBooks Author and check again.

The files are there. While in Finder, select Go from the menu at top and while clicking Go, hold down the Option key on keyboard, you should see Library appear in the drop down. If not try the Shift key, should toggle the visibility of the Library folder.

Installing it again will not remove the preference plist files and why I suggested to create a new user (Apple logo > System Preferences > Users.

This is important because a new user will not have any preference files for iBooks Author yet.

If it works correctly on a new user, on a new sample book, it’s not the application and no point in reinstalling.

If it works properly on a new user, it means it’s your preference files or your book file.
