Samsung SSD 850 PRO on Mac mini late 2014
Hi everybody.
I got a Mac mini late 2014 with a 1TB hard Disk. I want to change it with a Samsung SSD 850 PRO Saga III 2,5'. Can I do it? Is the new SSD HD compatible with my computer?
Thank you

Thank you for your reply. So what you think about this other two different Samsung "SSD 850 EVO 500 GB (MZ-75E500GB)" or "SSD 850 EVO 500 GB (MZ-75E500RW).
This two seems very very similar but I've found two different prices so I think they are a bit different
I have upgraded 6 different Mac Mini's (3 for myself and 3 for friends) using the PNY CS1311 SSDs.
see > https://www.pny.com/ssd-CS1311?sku=SSD7CS1311-480-RB
I pick them up at Best Buy when they are on sale, but you can also find them for less.

FWIW 2 of the 6 PNY SSDs have been in service for over 3 years and I have not had a single issue with any of them.
Oh yes, I did. I've tried to find it, but here in Italy is more simple to buy Samsung. The PNY brand have to be shipped from outside and needs more money to be be send (the base price is almost the same)
FWIW, I have the following SSDs in my Macs and all are performing
quite well:
2010 MacMini - Toshiba Q-series Pro 240GB
2011 MacMini Server - Kingston SSD-Now V-300 240 GB
Early 2011 MacBook Pro - Sandisk Ultra II 480 GB
Late 2013 27" iMac - Sandisk Ultra II 980 GB
They should be available globally. Though not the "ultimate speed demons",
they are still a whole lot faster than any HDD.
BTW, all of them are working quite well with High Sierra and APFS.
In theory, yes. In practice many users here have reported
issues using the Samsung 850 Pro drives. It seems with
this particular model, it seems to be a coin toss whether it
will work or not.
Well. I’ll try to find this one. Thank you very much
see my edit above, I added a link to other retailers.
Thank you woodmeister
I have a 2012 Mini using the Samsung 850 EVO MZ 75E500B/AM and runs great.
Thank you tbirtvet. I just don’t know if Mac mini 2012 is different or not from 2014
Sorry I did not know where you are geographically located. Yes that is understandable because PNY SSDs are Made in the USA.
I’m from Italy
I'm also using a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD with my 2014 Mac Mini. I replaced the SATA HDD (1TB) with the Samsung and have not had any issues.
Very well keg55. Thank you very much
I'm going to buy my SSD. When I'll got it, how do I have to proceed?
Do I need to format it before or can I install directly MacOS. Where can I find a complete guide?
