My DVD player isn't working.

I was having problems with it before so one website told me to delete my DVD player setting so I did but now I am getting error 70001 when I play a DVD that I know should work. I think it is because I previously deleted my DVD players settings but I cannot get these back and I don't know what to do now. I am using an external DVD player on my Mac book air.
