Lock computer but keep the display on

How can I prevent the display from turning off when the computer is locked?

I usually lock my computer when I leave the desk with ⌃⌘Q or ⌃⇧Power. The first way keeps the display on for a few seconds, the second one turns the display off immediately. When I return and hit any key to wake it up I have to wait a few seconds before the monitor wakes up and I can input the password.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

It works, even with a typing key(such as Enter), but if I start typing the password too soon first few letter aren't caught and I have to repeat it. Still, after typing the password, if it's correct, I have to wait for the monitor to wake up.

You could try pressing a non-typing key such as the command key and release. Then just type your password blindly and see if it is accepted while the screen "warms up".
