speakerphone icon changed to audio icon

After updating to 11.2, I made a phone call and wanted to place the call on speakerphone. The speakerphone icon has changed to audio icon and when you press that audio icon button you get a pop up screen that gives various options like iphone, speaker, etc. I feel that is one extra step to place a call on speakerphone. Does anyone know why this is happening? By the way, my phone is a 6S.
