SimpleText files to jpegs? How?

I have a bunch of Simple Text files (saved to my G4, running 9.2.2) that I want to convert to something I can view on a PC -- jpegs or whatever. Any advice?

Power Mac G4, Mac OS 9.2.x

Hi, biggles9153. SimpleText files can be opened in any word processor or text editor (WordPad or similar) on any PC — you just need to add the filename extension ".txt" to the name of each SimpleText file you want to open on the PC. That tells the PC it's a text file, and the PC will either open it immediately in an application or present a list of applications that can open it for you to choose from.

JPEG is a cross-platform file format for digital images (mainly photographs), not text files.

Ah. No, a screenshot that you make using the Command-Shift-3 or Command-Shift-4 key combinations is saved in PICT format — a file format that Simpletext can display, but not create. To convert it to JPEG format, open it in another application that can handle graphic files and do a Save As..., choosing JPEG as the file format.

Applications you might use for this purpose include Appleworks if you have it, JPEGView (freeware), or any photo image editing program. To open a PICT file in an application other than SimpleText, drag and drop the file's icon onto the icon of the chosen application, or else open the application first, then use its Open... command and navigate to the file.

You'll need to include the .jpg extension in the new file's name so the PC will recognize its file type.
