help with imac

I have an imac 2013 model which recently stopped working when trying to update the OS to high sierra. The machine was working properly with sierra 10.3. I can't boot, when switching on, I get directed to utilities where I've tried numerous times to re-install the OS to no avail. i need help with this disk locked issue.
