How does the Apple keyboard work with iPad Pro? The magnets connect then nothing happens....

I’m trying to connect the Apple intelligent keyboard to a new iPad Pro. I connect the three magnets, set the screen on the trough above the keyboard but nothing happens, the keyboard doesn’t connect. Help...
