Question: Mail Downloading Phantom Messages

Mail's Activity Window often grinds away downloading messages. It can take quite some time to work through 2, or 7, or 19 or however many messages Mail is "downloading." Nothing ever shows up in my inbox from this activity. Can anyone explain this behavior, and is it anything of concern?

Thanks.

Answer:

I see that all the time. I can't explain why it happens. If the number gets to high, quit and restart Mail.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
