Memory usage does not add up. Running slow.

Recently I have got on my computer again after a long time and notice when I play games it will run sluggish. I always use the lowest graphics settings.

After some research found out that in activity monitor CPU, Energy, and a little of memory is fine.

sometimes when playing games "Kernal_task" uses up to 4 GB of data

4+ Memory is taken and it does not add up

And on Disk "launchd" has written 12GB of data. ALSO I don't really know what Disk does.

Some of my research revealed that adware stuff on macs are a Big NO NO. I did use a few.

also found some weird files, and if someone could tell me which ones they are and where I can find them

here is what I have found

I have TextWrangler I don't know if thats a culprit but all of the files above are listed for that app.

and last Is CleanMyMac3 a bad one also?

Here's one contributor to your computer's slowness. That type of software is not recommended for Macs. They have very adequate built in protection against intrusion. i suggest you uninstall it and see if there's a direct relationship to computer speed.

Nothing is wrong with the computer other than you don't have a backup for it. This is a shortsighted point of view, all computers should have a minimum of 1 full backup system. When the computer's HD dies (and they all do) you will lose ALL of your data including irreplaceable photos, important records, music, etc... At a minimum get an external HD (they're inexpensive) and begin using Time Machine per the directions in How to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

CleanMyMac is VERY bad. I would recommend doing the following:

Please post an EtreCheckreport of your system. We can then look for obvious issues. Please click the link, download the app and run the report. Once you have the report, please copy and paste it as your reply to this post.

I have used TextWrangler in the past and it has never caused any problems for me. You might want to read https://www.macrumors.com/2017/03/02/bare-bones-software-retiring-textwrangler/ where it says that TextWrangler is being retired.

I must agree with rkaufmann87 that CleanMyMac3 is a far more likely culprit for any problems you are currently having.

You have quite a collection of Adware installed. Using EtreCheck, as suggested above should get rid of it.

Likewsie. The highlighted .plist is Adware, as is hlprmac, and I would guess most others in that list.

I don't keep anything important on this computer. this computer is basically for online schoolwork and games.

I have a 2 TB external hard drive that I keep photos, essays and important things on.

I have had it for 3 years and it has never affected it. it peaks at 10% CPU, on average it runs on 2-5.
