Use Apple Pay Cash in iTunes store

Why can’t you use an existing balance on an Apple Pay cash card to purchase movies, music, apps, etc? I would think when asked to confirm purchase of a song for instance you could just select a payment method and authenticate? But can’t seem to figure how to pay with this method.. if it exists[yet].. please help
