Uploading Photos to iCloud

I recently had a 2TB external hard drive crash on me. I'm in the process of getting my data recovered since i moved years worth of pictures on to it because i was told it was the "safest" thing to do... Anyway, I have some photos still left on my Mac Book that I want to back up on iCloud but I want to make sure its safe there. Once I upload to iCloud Photos is there a chance my photos delete on there own for any reason?

They shouldn't, but iCloud is really designed as a syncing system, not a backup. I would suggest you keep backing up your photos to 2 external hard drives. That way if one fails, you should still have a copy of your photos.
