Holding a click for about a second brings the context menu, you may reproduce the behavior in certain elements of a web page.
The context
As a web developer is common for me to test swipe gestures with a mouse / trackpad, so "click and hold" behavior gets in the way by bringing up the context menu.
The question
Is there any
defaults writeI can't make "click and hold" do anything. Perhaps it is a Force-Touch function on the new pressure-sensitive Trackpads. Perhaps you can increase the pressure sensitivity to prevent that (I don't have one to test).
However, I can't help with either defaults setting that would alter either.

Which elements? Like Barney I cannot reproduce the problem.
You're describing Force Click. Enable or disable it in System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click.
Doing some further tests it seems to only happen when I have a magic mouse paired.
