USB ports inoperant

I have tried all the resets and still either USB ports work on my 2014 Macbook Air. It first started with the right side USB, then the left side became intermittent. Now both are dead. I conencted my iphone in a USB and wont even recognize it. totally dead.

can Apple answer this as I see many are having this problem. My macone is updated and everything else works on it.
