High Sierra: Slow boot, no Time capsule!

Hi all!

Little issues here on my Macbook pro running High Sierra!

Basically: I have a late 2010 13" Macbook pro.

I updated a couple of weeks ago from Mavericks.

Since then two major problems:

-1. Slow Startup (even after PRAM & SNC) and also when opening any application (Spinning pinwheel....)

-2. Impossible to "connect" to the time capsule.....

I have Bootcamp because I need to use Windows/Revit.

I had it before when running Mavericks and never had any issue (with OS x), but I repartitioned because of some issues with Windows. Before ripartitioning I thought: might as well try upgrading to lates OS x......hhhmmmm..maybe not a good idea after all...

Anyone's able to help me before I downgrade OS x and......repartition yet again?

Many thanks!!

H.

Hello, h.finn.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that since updating to macOS High Sierra you've been experiencing slow performance and you can't connect to the Time Capsule. I may be able to help with this. For the performance of your MacBook Pro, I would suggest checking out this article which has some helpful tips: macOS Sierra: If your Mac runs slowly

To help me out, are you having troubles connecting to the Time Capsule for the Internet or are you unable to connect in order to use Time Machine? You can use this article as a reference to help troubleshoot the Time Capsule with some basic steps: If you can‘t back up or restore your Mac using Time Machine

Check your AirPort base station

  1. If you're using an AirPort Time Capsule or a drive connected to an AirPort Extreme Base Station, make sure that your AirPort firmware is up to date.
  2. Restart your base station and see if the issue continues. To restart, unplug the base station from AC power for 5 seconds, then plug it back in.

Check your network connection

If you back up to a server, AirPort Time Capsule, or drive connected to your AirPort Extreme Base Station, make sure that your Mac is connected to the same network as your backup drive. You can select your wireless network from the Wi-Fi status menu.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Hi i-rina,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Concerning your links: the first one sends me to this: "How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac", which I don't think is relevant to my issue...

Concerning the slow boot etc: I did a check with the software "etrecheck" which gave me a "below average" performance for my macbook.

As I said everything was fine before the update (not clean install but update).

Startup time is now 90"....

As per the other issue: I only use the Time Capsule for the Time Machine. And apparently now I can't anymore.....
