Internet browsers & App Store don't work after upgrade to High Sierra

Firefox & Safari don't work.

They open, but then don't connect to the the internet, so can't open or download any internet pages. In other words, I cannot browse the internet.

Also, I get no connection with the App Store.

Again, program opens, but remains grey and inactive. Therfore I also can't connect to or down load any updates or apps.

I have an iMac 21.5 inch, mid 2011. This all happened after upgrading to High Sierra.

Everything else seems to work, but is excessively slow since the upgrade!

How can I get the browsers and the App Store to work again??

p.s. I tried this, but it didn't help:

  1. Restart the computer and after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears.
  2. Select Disk Utility and press the Continue button.
  3. Then select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list.
  4. Click on the First Aid tab in the toolbar and wait for the Done button to activate. Click on it, then quit Disk Utility.
  5. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Then download and reinstall the macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 Combo Update.

If you have changed home folder permissions or changed permissions in shared , guest or any and changed the date and time settings you will not be able to sign in iCloud account or Apple ID account , iTunes , App Store .

I have experienced the same issue as changed it once in my Mac , but with the help of iCloud verification code configured the accounts successfully ( it was a very lengthy and complicated method ) , but in your system not sure what changes have you made , are your network settings correct ? do you use anti virus , cleaners , third party apps ?

Hi John, After performing the "First Aid" process described above, I was able to solve the problem by manually re-installing High Sierra 10.3.2 on the iMac.

I had to download the installer on my MacBook first, and transfer it by flash drive to the iMac, since I couldn't get online there.

But all seems fine now. App Store is also accessible again.

Thanks for your response.
