Migration assistant fails after upgrade

I have upgraded both iMacs to High Sierra. When I tried Migration Assistant, it closes apps and logs out on one iMac and only get the screen to log in which brings me back to where I was. It does not offer any option to actually migrate data. The other iMac, it fails to log out. What am I doing wrong?
