iPhone Shutting Off Outside In Cold Weather!?

Hey everyone, just wanted to see if there’s anyone else that has this issue with their iPhone . I’m located in NYC and it’s been getting colder the last 3-4 days and every time I have my phone out in my hand it shuts off within a few minutes of me being outside and when I try to power it back on it shows “Low battery” but once I get inside after about 10 minutes it’ll turn back on and have the same amount of battery it has before shutting off. Anyone else experience this?

You didn't state which iPhone you have but if you have the iPhone X make sure you are running iOS 11.1.2 or later as there was a fix for the iPhone X not working in cold weather. Otherwise, the following may help:

I don't know what temperatures you have been getting in Iowa but here's a document Apple has put out regarding acceptable operating temperatures.

If the phone gets too cold or too hot the iPhone has built in protections to keep it from being permanently damaged. A few years ago a test was done in a controlled environment where the temperature could be adjusted to a fraction of a degree. Every smartphone began giving errors the colder they got and all of them ceased to function at some point.

I have recently found my brand new iPhoneX is unresponsive in the cold weather! There are suggestions that the 11.2 update fixed it. Just point of reference, it hasn’t. I live in Iowa, for God’s sake!!!

I work out of door... I need my phone to work! Any other ideas on how to fix it??? Doesn’t Samsung have OLED screens too? Why does their phone work in cold weather and ours doesn’t?

It's a big issue, especially if you live somewhere cold (I'm in Norway) it means iPhones (also iPhone X, with iOS 11.1.2 or later) are generally useless for half the year, at least outside. I have an iPhone 6, fully updated iOS. I can't take pictures outside at all in winter, the most beutiful part of the year...

So if anyone from Apple reads this - can you offer any hope that this will be dealt with? I didn't have this problem with my older iPhone models. Will be forced to change to Android if it carries on. My wife has a Samsung, and has no issues taking photos outside, even below minus 10 degrees C.
