macOS 10.13.2 update kills links in Chrome

I updated to 10.13.2 yesterday and now when I click on a link in a email or text on air book, it only opens up a tab and not the link in Chrome. If you change default browser to Safari it works, but not in Chrome which it used to do before the update. What gives?

MacBook Air, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

Apple does not promise that third-party software will work with macOS. It's up to the software developers to keep their products compatible. So I would contact Chrome tech support for further help. Also, be sure you are using the latest version of Chrome. Thus far, I haven't come across another user with this same issue.
