iMovie not working

My iMovie will not let me create a new movie. It is up to date with the latest app upgrade. I was starting a new video edit when the app crashed (which has happened a lot since the update). I went to open it again like usual and the project hadn't saved like normal. I went to click "New Movie" and after I gave it a title it prompted me with "this task can not be completed no further information is available." I literally need iMovie for college, my job, etc. Please help as Apple has been useless.

Hi Jim! Thank you so much for such a quick response! After contacting support chat I realized there was an OS update my computer never prompted me for :\ and then after that an iMovie update. I can now create projects again, the application is just so slow. Going to put off having to purchase a video editing software as long as possible (haha). Again, thank you so much for your helpful suggestion, and if this ever happens again in the future upon no reason other than an application flaw then I'll be sure to give it a try. 🙂

Try opening iMovie holding down the option key and create a new library. Now can you create a new project in this new library?
