Photo Library Backup

I've got around 58000 photos on my MacBook under Photo Library 2 (All already backed up externally) that I want to backup within my upgraded iCloud account but for some reason (unknown to me) they are also moving onto my iPhone. How do I stop this from happening? I plan for any new iPhone photos to automatically sync to my MacBook & then sync into my iCloud Account...Does this sound feasible?

If you turn on iCloud Photo Library on an iPhone it will automatically sync all photos to and from iCloud. There isn't any option to have multiple iCloud Photo Libraries with a single iCloud account. It syncs all photos to all devices signed in to iCloud which have iCloud Photo Library turned on.

You could turn PhotoStream on in your phone instead of iCloud Photo Library on the phone and use that to sync new photos (taken after that option is turned on) to the Mac.
