Unlocked iPhone won’t support sim

I’ve just purchased an unlock iPhone 7 from my brother. The phone is unlocked. It was purchased from Apple and used on EE, we contacted ee to ask for an unlocked but they told us it wasn’t locked. The issue is my 3 sim that is working fine in my 6 is coming up as not supported on the new iPhone. Any help please? Thanks Alex

You need to discuss this with EE and be given an explanation as to why the sim you want to use will not work if indeed the phone is unlocked.

Alternatively you can contact Apple Support and inquire as to what the activation policy on the device is and whether it is compatible with the sim you would like to use.
