mail problems with OS10.13

Just upgraded to High Sierra...

Apple Mail with gmail accounts will NOT go online.

Have tried all the tips on Apple sites and others.

This occurred after sorting some inbox mail into folders.

Can I reinstall Apple Mail only? If so, where do I download?
