on my iMac (late 2015) the latest update (10.4) for FCPX doesn't appear but on my MacBook Pro (early 2011) it does... Why can't I update? Both computers are up to date with everything, running on OS Sierra 10.12.6...

Hey! I am having this same issue. Once the app is moved to the trash, do you empty the trash? Or do you leave it in there? I haven't emptied the trash yet, FCPX is still sitting the trash and it still hasn't updated.
Try moving the application to the trash and re-downloading from the purchased page.
Thanks. I was thinking about doing that, and if I won't find any other idea to get the update in the traditional way 🙂 i will do it, but I'm trying to solve, why is that happening...
It is a known bug with the App Store.
Don’t empty the trash. Download it from the Purchased page.
