iTunes not deleting songs from library (through playlist editing)

OK, I've added a whole bunch of songs through my iTunes (my Christmas music). I put all of these new songs into its own playlist (XMAS ALL). Now I'm going through that list to remove the songs I don't want this year.

While in the playlist I right click on the song and am presented with two choices: Remove from playlist and Delete from library. I choose the latter since I don't want to keep this on my phone at all, but when I go back to the Songs listing the "deleted" songs are still in the library.

I know this used to work. I just updated to iTunes 12.7.2.60 and I believe this is a bug in the software. Apple usually ignores me, but there it is.
