Battery Issue on MacBook Pro mid 2012 retina running on 10.13.1
At a boot, it shuts down. When I turn on the laptop. it shows a drained battery and cable even through teh battery is 54% charged!

Thank you, I know how to run the test. It is not necessarily conclusive and I do not believe that the battery is checked. My suggestion is to have Apple do some of their tests which are much more in depth.
If this is the retina model, I'd suggest taking it to your nearest Genius Bar for a diagnosis.

I had the lap top perform hardware diagnostic twice and both results came with no problem.
You do that by keeping your finger on Command and D at he start up..
