right shift key shrinks windows

Bought a new Mac and I'm having trouble setting up a few things. When I hit right shift key it shrinks the windows. How do I stop that from happening? Also on my old Mac when I put my cursor in the bottom right corner my weather and calculator would pop up. How do you set that up?
