Family Sharing - iCloud Data

Hi there,

I'd like to set-up family sharing for iCloud data. My partner and kids are already paying for 50GB each so if I set this up will their plans cease automatically or do i need to take extra steps?

I have read posts that stated it was automatically downgraded and I have read posts where it required cancelling the extra storage.
