keyboard non-responsive or self-responsive

Mac OS 10.13.2 on my MacBook Pro. With both the internal keyboard, and my external Apple Wireless keyboard, I keep getting crazy behavior. Won't accept input, then runs spaces ahead fast with no touch to keys, then a window pops up above the current letter showing me foreign accent choices, etc. I turn off the wireless keyboard and reconnect, works for awhile and then starts doing it again. I tried it with a different external Apple Wireless keyboard and it does the same thing. Then it started doing it when I'm typing with the internal keyboard. Not sure what to do and it's very annoying.

Greetings, Randy,

If your external keyboard is connected when you are typing. it may be causing interference.

Turn off the external keyboard and move it out of the vicinity. Turn off any Wacom tablet / pens and do likewise.
