custom icon square

Hi everybody

I've just find an annoying behavior of High Sierra. When I cut and paste an image in the information windows of a folder or document in order to have a custom icon (as I always did), the image is automatically resized to a square shape. Pretty ugly. Anyone has an idea how to change that ?
