Can I change my Log-in Screen name?

I am the Administrator for this computer and I don't like how my real name, my user name, is visible to strangers in public places. I know that I could wipe the machine and begin again with a new username but can I edit it while saving everything I have on it? My old Macbook at home has Owner as the log-in screen name, and that suits me fine. Thanks for looking.
