Inbox reverts to earlier date

I have an iPhone 6S/@btinternet.com email account - just recently, when I go into my Inbox, it only has emails up to 3/4 months ago (it's the same ageing every time as far as I can see) and I then get "downloading" to bring the Inbox up-to-date (with emails left in my Inbox, NOT ones I have previously deleted) ...

Has anyone else had this happen - if yes, has anyone found a fix?

I understand that your iPhone is not downloading new messages in Mail, and I'm happy to provide some help for this.
