iPhone X: messages coming in twice, why?

Hi, since switching to iPhone 10, anytime i receive an iMessage, I also receive it as a text message, so I am getting every Imessage twice. Its very annoying. I haven't changed any settings since my previous iPhone. I know someone else who has the same issue going from iPhone 5 to X also receiving iMessages twice as one also comes in as a regular text.
