malware removal

Malwarebytes keeps popping up with messages to download. I do not have it, I do not want it but it stays. I have tried removing it to no avail.

It is Malware was far as I am concerned.

Any ideas on how to remove it permanently?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7)

You installed it at some point, but didn't properly remove it. In the future, note that everything that requires an installer will also need to be uninstalled properly. You can't just drag such applications to the trash.

In the case of Malwarebytes, if you have a version older than 3.1.1 (which you must, if you're getting update notifications), download the uninstaller from here:
