How to mute text tone durring phone conversation

Can someone please help me figure out how to dis-able the text tone alert that blasts into my eardrum right in the middle of phone conversations?

This is ridiculous if the answer is; "Turn off your text alerts while on calls, then remember to turn it back on when you hang up." THATS A BUNCH OF GARBAGE! My old iPhone never did this, the new one does. Apple quit jacking with crap like this that's not broken. (Apple wonders why they're loosing massive amounts of market share to Samsung. You're about to have to add me to the list.)
