Watch series 3 with cellular counting stairs, exerise and calories suddenly

I bought my watch in September and in November it started randomly counting flights of stairs (100's of flights) when walking or even while sleeping. I contacted support who had me bring it to the store and they replaced it saying it was a hardware issue. Now 30 days later the new watch is doing the same thing only now it is also counting exercise time and calories too. For example on a plane yesterday I supposedly exercised 45 min, burned 600 calories and climbed 80 flights of stairs.

I contacted support again who had me talk to an engineer who said that it is a known issue, but still don't know when it will be resolved. I was suppose to receive a call back today but haven't.

Unpairing and repairing sometimes fixes it for a while but it always comes back. Any ideas?
