Because you have one or more apps that were purchased/downloaded using your "old" ID. Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them. If you can't access the old ID and can't reset the password for it, delete those apps and re-purchase them using the ID you're currently using.

That sadly isn't possible.
Apps that you have downloaded with a different Apple ID unfortunatley cannot be updated without signing into that old Apple ID.

Indeed that would be one way to solve it, but by doing that any data on the apps that you delete will be gone.
There is no other way to "solve" it except to successfully regain access to the account used to purchase the apps.
