My mum and I are on holidays together and have both been checking the weather on our iPhones. Even when standing next to each other, they are consistently a few degrees different. Hers currently says 13° and mine 16°! And yes, I've checked both the local temperature and the one set for the city (the "home" weather screen and the "Melbourne" one - neither matches my mum's phone for the area).

The phone does not measure temperature. That information comes from your chosen weather service provider. If you don't have the same selection of city and reporting station the readings can be different.
We're both using whatever was default - even though the phone is not using a thermometer, I don't understand why it would have 3° difference - as I said, I've checked both for the city set, and for the reading that uses location services
If you go to the location settings in the Weather app, you choose both a city and a reporting point in the city. The other possibility is that your phones are not updating weather data at the same time. It's only updated a couple of times an hour, and you need an Internet connect for it to update at all.
Yes that's the thing - I've checked both the location services reading and the one for the city we are in. On both phones. Both on same wifi connection, and same service provider.
Is there a way to refresh the reading? I guess they could have updated almost a half hour apart, but three degrees is still a big difference to happen in half an hour.
