why is 4-5 GB of memory used while nothing is open ?

Please help i cannot figure out whats using up all my memory/ram

I have tried and did remove a few malware like files.

I am using a (Late 2012 iMac 21.5-inch)

Just upgraded to High Sierra about a week ago.

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

Your computer and operating system are working as they were designed to. Recent versions of Mac OS X will utilize as much RAM as it needs. The green indicator in the Memory Pressure graph shows there is no issue.
