How do I prevent .pdf docs from opening in iBook?
When I attempt to open a .pdf document, it opens in iBook rather than Preview. This started happening just a short time ago.

I understand you would like to change the default application to open PDF files from iBooks to Preview. The resource below will explain how to do this. Although the title states macOS Sierra, the instructions are the same for all versiom of the operating system.
macOS Sierra: Choose an app to open a file
Permanently change the app used to open a file
In the Finder, select the (PDF) file you want to open, then choose File > Get Info.
You can also Control-click the file, then choose Get Info.
In the Info window, click the disclosure triangle next to “Open with.”
Click the pop-up menu, then choose the app.
To open all files of this type with this app, click Change All.
