Uploading photos to iCloud

I am trying to transfer everything from my Android phone to my iPhone. I couldn't use any software e.g. Move to iOS (this kept hanging at 39%) which was recommended so I am now manually transferring it all over.

I am attempting to copy all the photos on my SD card and ultimately have them in my photos on my iPhone. I have managed to get them saved on my laptop in a folder but I’m having problems uploading them to the iCloud. I’ve been into my iCloud account and found the upload icon. My photos are all in folders but don't seem to be able to upload these folders as they are. Also, I don’t seem to be able to upload more than one photo at a time. Another way I have found on the net is that I have found the folder ’iCloud Photos’ in File Explorer which shows ’Upload’, ‘Download’ and ‘Share’ folders. I can put my folders within the ’Upload’ folder but I’m not sure what happens next!

It’s all very frustrating! I hope someone can clarify things and guide me through what I need to do next. Many thanks in advance!
