IPhone 10 incoming call only ringing once but continues to vibrate

Incoming telephone calls only ring once on our iPhone 10 and then stop ringing but continue to vibrate. Our Apple Watch continues to ring and vibrate. Any ideas on how to correct this problem so the iPhone 10 continues to ring until call is answered ? Thank you !
