The ability to update apps and search the App Store was removed from iTunes starting with v. 12.7.
However, a version of iTunes (12.6.3.6) is still available that allows updating apps and searching the App Store. You'll find the download link on this Apple page. This version of iTunes can be downloaded and installed on your computer even if you have already updated to iTunes 12.7.
