Do I have to delete pictures manually from my photos after uploading them to my files?

I need more memory so I’ve purchased the 50gb plan and I’ve started to send pictures from my photo stream to files but do I have to then delete them also or is there an automatic setting that can do this?

Also can I choose what photo resolution I want uploaded?

I’ve looked online and I cannot get a clear answer. Thanks
