After 7.6.9 update Airport Extreme main 2.4ghz network cannot be connected to

5th gen. airport extreme’s 2.4ghz network does not work upon updating to 7.6.9. The 5ghz and the guest network can be connected to, but the main 2.4ghz network says ‘cannot connect.’

Several errors about loading configuration files were given upon update installation.

I rolled back the firmware the problem persists. How can I fix this?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

About the only thing that you can do now is reset the AirPort Extreme back to factory default settings and then set it up again.

If you want to update the firmware, you will signficantly reduce the chances of errors occurring in the process if you can connect your Mac to one of the Ethernet ports on the AirPort Extreme using an Ethernet cable and turn off the WiFi on the Mac for the update process.

Once the AirPort has been updated with new firmware, then you turn the WiFi back on at the Mac and disconnect the Ethernet cable.
