Updates, Safari, PDF's will not open.

Since my last Apple update on my Mac, this December, PDF files will not open. Black screen only. They open when I use Google Chrome but not with Safari. I have reloaded Adobe Flash Player. Any ideas?

Sorry for delay, new to this support.

Mac mini, it is a four years old, not ancient but not brand new. Updated recently OS shows as High Sierra 10.13.2.
