My iPhone5 battery died and therefore the phone died.
All data/content except CONTACTS was backed up to the cloud but for some reason my CONTACTS were backed up to my dedicated email account.
I now have a new iPhone5 and I want to copy those backed-up CONTACTS onto the new iPhone5.
Can someone help me please?

You can only use the contents that were backed up to iCloud.
Just go to settings on new iPhone down to Email Accounts delete that account
Then add back again you may get your contacts back but I am more not sure.
Have you got the contacts on a ipad?

Add the email account to the new phone and turn on contact sync for that account. The contacts should re-populate.
