Not getting message badge on iPad Pro

Have sound effects when iMessages cone through, but no badge icon advising message received. Settings shows badges enabled, do not disturb switched off. iPhone, no problems just iPad pro

iPad Air, iOS 8.4.1

It looks like you don't see the notification badge on the Messages app icon when you receive messages, and this is only happening on your iPad Pro.

I'm happy to walk you through some troubleshooting steps. First:
  1. Go to Settings > Notifications and turn off notifications for Messages.
  2. Restart your iPad Pro.
  3. Turn on notifications again, making sure that "Badge App Icon" is still on.
If you still don't see the badge on the Messages icon when you receive iMessages, these questions may help isolate the issue:

1. Has this ever worked on your iPad Pro?

2. Does this happen with any other app?
