My Apple ID device list contains two instances of the same iMac.
I did install a 3rd party SSD.
How do I safely remove one of the instances?
iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), User installed SSD

Both instances of iMac have a remove option.
My worry is that if I remove one of the instances I will loose iCloud data.
I am looking for some assurance that I can safely remove one of them.
For the good of the order...
I deleted one instance at random. Got a message that it would return if still in use.
Logged back in. Instance returned.
Deleted the other instance.
Logged out. Logged back in. Success, or at least I hope so.

If you accidentally remove the wrong one, you should be able to sign out/into iCloud to add it back.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately on the device list I am logged into two devices with the same name and serial number.
I don't want to loose my iCloud data, but want to clean this problem up.
Isn't there a Remove option?
