Stuck on Restoring Media?

Traded in my iPhone 7 Plus for an iPhone X on 12/7/17. Before I went to the store I had an iCloud backup made at 5pm on 12/7.

Get my iPhone X home and try to restore from my iCloud backup which is 33.2 GB. It makes it all the way through and stops on "This iPhone is currently being restored and will automatically back up when it is done. Restoring media." It stays like this for 48 hours. I decided to stop it, restore the phone, and try again. The same thing happens. I go to the Apple store a few days later and the "Genius" asks if I notice anything missing, if not, hit "Stop Restoring" and move on with life. How in the world am I supposed to know if I have anything missing?! I have thousands of pictures and videos, tons of apps, texts, etc. I have a backup so I don't have to manually keep track of what exactly is on my phone at all times.

I proceed to speak 5 different senior level "Geniuses" on the help line. Every single one has a different answer. Not one of them actually work.

I decide that I'm going to stop restoring, reset the phone, and try to load the backup again. I did that on 12/11. It's now 12/16 and it is still stuck there. This phone is worthless and has basically been an expensive paper weight since 12/7. I have not moved it from the room with the router. I don't use it at all.

Does ANYONE have any idea what to do? There has got to be a way to have this normally terminate.

I understand that it varies on wifi speeds. But again, it hasn't left the room with the router and is plugged into a power source. I don't have a backup on iTunes. Only iCloud.

Please help me.

iPhone X, iOS 11.2, null

Just had this issue resolved by Apple Support.

1. On phone, Go to iTunes > More > Downloads

2. You should see some media downloading in the queue stuck in the “Waiting” status

3. In iTunes > Music scroll down to the very bottom and select "Apple ID" and then "Sign Out"

4. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores

5. Turn off all automatic downloads

6. Select "Apple ID" and then "Sign Out"

7. Go to Settings > Music turn off "iCloud Music Library" and "Automatic Downloads" then Sign Out of "Home Sharing"

8. Then restart your phone and sign back into iTunes. When you go to iCloud Backup, instead of "Restoring Media" you will see "Back Up Now" and the issue is resolved.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 8 Plus. I was experiencing some subpar battery life out of nowhere and couldn’t figure out what the cause was, so an iCloud restore was my last resort. Upon wiping my phone clean, and loading the iCloud backup I made just minutes before the wipe, I let my phone do its thing over night to wake up and find “Restoring Media” under iCloud Backup, and scoured the internet for a solution; nothing worked, but this did, and for that thank you so much!
